How does PROS AI work for plumbers?
A homeowner in London describes the plumbing job they need done: a leaking tap, a burst pipe, a blocked sink or toilet, a new bathroom suite, a hot water cylinder that has stopped working. PROS AI passes that request by text to at most three local plumbers. If you are one of them, the text arrives on your phone, you get in touch with the homeowner, and you quote and win the work in your own way.
A request goes to a maximum of three plumbers. Sometimes it goes to two, sometimes to one. How many share it sets what each of you pays.
What counts as a lead?
A lead is one homeowner request for plumbing work, passed by text to at most three local plumbers. It is not a click on a profile, a page view, or a message from someone browsing. You are charged for the request you received, and only for that.
Because a request can be shared by up to three plumbers, the homeowner may hear from more than one of you. A quick call back counts, and for a leak or a blocked drain it counts more than anything else.
What does a plumber lead cost in London?
Every job type has a base price. What you pay depends on how many plumbers the request was sent to:
- Three plumbers share the request: each pays the base price.
- Two share it: each pays 1.4 times the base price.
- You are the only plumber on it: you pay 2 times the base price.
Plumbing lead prices run from £12 to £45 depending on the job, and a job type priced at £15 or less costs the same however many tradespeople share it. To show the ladder with round numbers, a job type with a £20 base price costs £20 when three of you share it, £28 when two share it, and £40 when it is yours alone. The exclusive price is double the shared price, and nobody else from PROS AI is quoting for that job.
PROS AI UK LTD is not VAT registered today, so no VAT is added to lead fees.
Is the first lead really free?
Yes. A new tradesperson's first lead is free. After that you pay per lead. There is no subscription, no monthly fee and no minimum spend, so in a month with no leads you pay nothing.
When do you pay for a lead?
Nothing is billable until five working days after the lead arrives. Lead fees are then charged to the card on your account on the 15th and on the last day of each month. A lead that arrives in the few days before a billing date is not on that bill; it is billed on the next one.
You are not asked to pay for each lead as it arrives and you do not top up a balance. You add a card once, and the fees you owe are collected on the two billing dates.
What happens if a lead is bad?
Some requests are not genuine: a wrong number, a homeowner who did not ask for a plumber, a request that is not a real job. A lead like that can be disputed in the portal and it is reviewed. Raise the dispute as soon as you see the problem rather than waiting for the bill.
Who is PROS AI for, and who is it not for?
It suits a plumber or a small plumbing firm working in London who wants to pay only when a homeowner has asked for the work, who can answer the phone or call back quickly, and who would rather have no monthly fee than a directory listing to maintain. A shared lead only works for the plumber who answers it quickly, so it rewards the way emergency and small repair work is already won.
It does not suit everyone. PROS AI does not promise a number of leads per month, so if you need a set number of jobs each month to plan around, no pay-per-lead service can give you that and PROS AI does not claim to. It only serves London, so if you work elsewhere it is not for you. And if you cannot respond to a request the same day, the shared model works against you, because the homeowner may already be talking to someone else.
If you also take gas work, such as boiler repairs, that work needs Gas Safe registration and PROS AI asks for your registration number.
